A small selection of short segments taken mostly from the Additional Recordings folder was assigned to the buttons on a Launchpad controller with each segment being played back at different speeds. A performance on this setup was then recorded onto Ableton Live, with a small number of overdubs added alongside a few minor corrections. Having any given recording played back at different speeds creates all these different sonic characters/personalities that come to life in a piece, each in their own little way, and it's quite straightforward to use them as actors in some haphazardly written play. Then it is the interaction among these characters that becomes the focus, the temptation often being to have them all do their thing in a layered fashion, one on top of the other (the more the merrier).
